Zambian born Tim Mvula has been performing and singing in front of audiences from the tender age of 7 when he would sing in front of the congregation at his father's church.
Upon his arrival to UK and his new school at the age of fourteen, Tim was quick to grasp the opportunity of developing his musical ability. Starting in the annual talent competition where he placed joint first. He went on to play leading roles in the school's productions of Grease and Bugsey Malone. He also started a band called '24/7' with his younger brother and two other friends. It was at this stage where Tim decided to think seriously about a career in the music industry.
Tim and his band enjoyed local and national success, winning talent competitions, hosting shows and even appearing on national television. The band received positive reviews in the local papers and was invited to go on a small tour of the schools in the county.
Ultimately this led him to apply to study at LIPA. Tim has performed at LIPA numerous times including fronting for 4 different ensembles and also a featuring musical review of Stephen Sondheim's work. One of his most treasured performances was when he took part in the musical 'Hair', in which he played the role of 'Hud'.
In Tim's final year at LIPA he wrote an E.P called Just A Toy. He used the material to form the basis of his showcase at LIPA. For the showcase he worked with choreographer Paul Ferns and 5 dancers to put on a show in the main auditorium in LIPA. The show also included a music video he produced and directed with the hell of Will Johnsen.
Tim has also sung backing vocals for former Atomic Kitten star Liz McClarnon at a UNICEF charity event in Old Trafford. More recently he did some session work for Producer/Arranger Christian Badzura and sang backing vocals on a couple of Nate James tracks which will be on his album this December. Tim is also working with Christian on some original material and once completed will be gigging around liverpool again. The songs will also be on Myspace so watch this space!
Tim graduated from LIPA in July of this year and after a spell of travelling in Europe he is now concentrating on his music career. |
